Hey guys! I have here my most recently completed painting. You all gave such nice feedback on my latest question and as I thought about it, I decided to do a dall sheep for the painting for the auction. So here it is! I've never painted a dall sheep before, so this was a first. It was fun, though! I actually managed to start and finish this piece within 5 hours. Didn't quite expect it to go that fast, but I must have been on a roll that day. So thanks again for all your suggestions! I hope they like this one. :)

Acrylic on masonite--5" X 6" and five hours. My own refs/imagination used. ;)

Mountain goats/sheep of any kind are totally high up on my 'appreciative animals' lists. The fact that they spend their whole lives high up on the mountains, facing steep cliff faces that spell certain death for anyone unlucky enough to fall off, right from their first day is simply astounding. What a life that most be, scaling and balancing some of the mightiest things on this planet, and having your home there. I'm loving the contrast between the warm light on the Dall sheep here and the cold shadowy background - makes him stand out very well and give him the attention he deserves :D As for the time it took you: sometimes paitings take ages and never really get finished, whole some others are eager to come into existance and are finished before you know it - guess that's the life of an artist ;) All in all a wonderful piece which is a truly great tribute to this perhaps even greater species. Well done!
