Noticed by Misted-Dream Noticed by Misted-Dream
This is my most recent completion (finished it about four days ago) in black and white. It's probably my favorite out of all the paintings I've made this semester. It probably was one of the longest ones to paint as well.

Oil on masonite; 14" X 20"-ish (I need to measure these things), and between 10 or 15 hours I'd say. My own refs used.

Price: NFS

I know this is an older one, but it's absolutely gorgeous, so I had to comment. I really like these monochrome oil paintings - they have such a lovely soft look. Since, it's so delicate, it gets a bit lost amongst the works with more contrast in your gallery, but I really think it's one of your best. The composition is arresting, and every element of the painting is handled well, from the out-of-focus background to the bark texture and fur details.

Serious comments aside, he is soo cute! I can't help staring at the eyes, they're so beautiful.

Haha, it's an older one, but definitely still one of my favorites (it's actually hanging over my bed ;)). I agree that the b&w ones do tend to get lost, but as you say, they are kind of in their own category to a degree. And thanks for the lovely comment on it!

Lol, I love deer! They have such beautiful eyes. :aww:

That is gorgeously stunning! beautiful work with the oils. Might I ask, is that a whitetail? The antlers are kind of a give-away ;)

This is absolutely beautiful. I kind of gasped when it came up in my inbox and have been meaning to comment... I LOVE the concept, the convincing effect of depth, and also the colourscheme (what colours did you use if you don't mind me asking?) The little highlight in the eye just brings it all together, such a realistic effect yet still with the look of paint. I don't know what else to say, I just adore this!! I want to paint deer now :la:

Aww, thanks so much! That makes me very happy to hear that. And I just used black and white paint, so there isn't really any other color to it. It kind of looks blue-ish because of the white added to the black. I don't know why, but especially with oils, black and white paintings always have a blue-ish tint. I tried to adjust the colors so they'd be as close as possible to the original, but it's possible that they're slightly off as well. You should! You'd make drop dead gorgeous deer paintings I think. :)

Oh it looked like it could have been Payne's Grey and white, and I thought I was seeing umber in the white as well but I'm just seeing things :XD:
I have collected some deer refs, now just to find the time...

Ah, okay. I actually used Ivory Black and the usual Titanium White, if you want to be specific. And as I said, it's probably the camera's fault that it has some different hues in it (supposedly).
Ooo, exciting! I've made a drawing in my sketchbook and am working on another one (full-blown ballpoint pen) that I hope to turn into acrylic paintings over break here, but we'll see what happens. ;)
