Okay, so I know I said I wouldn't upload another drawing for a while, but this one turned out so nice I had to! I actually started making this at one of my cousin's birthday parties on Sunday and finished it yesterday. I don't know why, but elk always seem to be difficult for me to make as well as I would like. That's why I was so pleased with this one and how it came out.
One of my main focuses with this piece was contrast, after receiving so much helpful advice in my journal. (Thanks guys!) So I really tried to focus on that here with black and white. I guess you could almost consider it a "contrast practice piece" before I really delve in with my oils.
Oh, fun fact here. Did you know an elk with 6 points per antler (the "average") is called a royal, 7 points is an imperial, and 8 and up is a monarch?
Ballpoint pen on 9" X 12" sketchbook paper. No refs and a few hours work each day for about four days.
