Uploading has been rather slow as far as recent work goes. This is mostly due to the fact that I'm working on two different duck stamp pieces and obviously can't upload the finished ones until the contests are over. However, I have been working in my sketchbook and thinking of possible paintings I would like to make once I finish these duck stamp pieces (as well as a commission I'm doing at the moment as well). I may not turn these exact drawings into paintings, but it's more of a general idea.
I've never made a moose fight before, and as I understand it, it's more of a shoving match most of the time. However, I also understand they can be quite aggressive. Here's something about in the middle. Enjoy!
Ball point pen on sketchbook paper--9" X 12". No refs and maybe 7-ish hours?
EDIT: Oh hey! I just realized this was my 200th deviation.
Awesome!!! Nice shading and contrast! Especially for pen!!!! Usually when I use pen it's all fine and dandy until the pen decides to let out a gient ink slotch. I haven't quite got the technique down yet I guess. Or maybe I just need a new pen... Also, I've always found fir and grass really hard to do, but you seemed to have pulled it off nicely!! Congrats!
Wow, thanks a lot for your wonderful comment! There's actually probably nothing wrong with your pen. It happens to me a lot too, but I use a kleenex to dab off the tip of the pen when it's starting to build up ink. I just check it every now and then. But it doesn't always work. You can probably see in a few places that there are ink globs (though I try my best to hide them when I can).
